Rally Reykjavik 2010
Rally Reykjavik 2010 now is on the calendar fo the FIA Alternative Energies Cup. This will, of course, effect what is on offer and how the event is run.
We will in many ways stick to the general structure we used in the 2009 event, but, make it slightly more challenging.
The event will be split up into the following competitive sections:
Special stage rally
Normal fuel
The cars in this sections are powered by normal fuel, petrol or diesel. Cars will be required to cover the whole distance of the event.
Alternative fuel
Cars in the alternative fuel section of the event will be required to cover the distance of the whole event. The eligible fuel definitions for this section have initially been identified as methane, hydrogen, E85, but, this is more than likely to change over the next weeks.
Zero Emission
In Iceland zero emission is defined as hydrogen and electricity locally produced. Cars in this section will cover a reduced length event suitable for the energy being stored in the cars. However - quite possibly for the first time ever - zero emission cars may compete officially in a special stage rally.
Road rally
This forms part of the FIA Alternative Energies Cup and will be a combination of a road rally with regularity and driving tests as well as an eco rally. The road rally is also open to all roadworthy zero emission vehicles.
